The Exeter Masculinities Research Unit is a network of researchers with an interest in histories, theories, experiences, materialities, embodiments, performances and representations of masculinity.

Interdisciplinary at its core, the Unit brings together academics from a wide variety of fields to foster dialogue and research collaborations among its members and with non-academic partners, with the aim of contributing to scholarship and public debates on different aspects and iterations of masculinity, as well as on broader topics in gender, sexuality, health and human behaviour.

Building on the work already being conducted by individual researchers at Exeter, our ambition is to turn the University of Exeter into a centre of excellence for the study of men and masculinities by supporting the development of collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects, and synergies with other Exeter research structures such as the Wellcome Centre for Cultures and Environments of Health, the Centre for Medical History, and the Sexual Knowledge Research Unit, in addition to national and international partners.

If you would like to get involved with the network, you can subscribe to our email discussion list, you can do so by heading here and clicking “Subscribe or Unsubscribe” (Note: if you’re not already registered with JISCMail, you’ll have to create an account in order to subscribe).
